Pralibel's roots are originally in craftsmanship. This is also the secret that gives its chocolates their unique taste. This also means that every single praline is given its unmistakable look with the finishing touches. Pralibel has over 200 different types on offer, including fair trade chocolates.
Pralibel has stood for taste with passion for 150 years
The Pralibel story began 150 years ago with the Sulmon family in Belgium. At that time, Western Europe was still largely agricultural. Charles Sulmon, born in 1842, was a farmer and had five sons. When the whole of Europe suffered from famine, most of his sons had to leave home and move to other areas. Two went to France, one traveled overseas to the United States and another moved to the Walloon provinces. There they all followed in their father's footsteps and became farmers.
However, Charles' youngest son Rudolf, born in 1895, had to stay in Belgium. His skills as a farmer ensured the survival of the First World War for him and his family. So Rudolf took over his father's farm when he was 35 years old and made his dream come true: he became self-employed and sold agricultural products. His business prospered, although the effects of the Second World War did not leave his farm unscathed. But instead of giving up discouraged, Rudolf resumed business after the end of the war and it soon flourished again. When Rudolf finally took over the management of a palate shop in Brussels in 1955, Pralibel's success story began.
